Cardinal McCloskey Community Charter School is a public charter school that is nonsectarian in its programs, admission policies, employment practices, and all other operations. In 2018-19, 75 kindergarten seats and 75 first grade seats will be available. Each year thereafter, 75 new kindergarten seats will be available.
As a public school, Cardinal McCloskey Community Charter School is open to all New York City students and will not limit the admission of any student on the basis of actual or perceived disability, gender, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, ancestry, sexual orientation, athletic ability or intellectual aptitude or achievement. Enrollment preference is granted to students returning to the charter school in any subsequent year of operation, siblings of students already enrolled in the school, children of employees of the charter school and students residing in the school district of the charter school. Recognizing that children in foster care are among the most at-risk and underserved students in the country, Cardinal McCloskey Community Charter School has established a priority for enrolling a substantial number of foster care students. Cardinal McCloskey Community Charter School will therefore use the New York State Education Department Weighted Lottery Generator to weight admissions for students who reside in CSD 10 and are identified as Students with Disabilities (SWDs).
