📚 Reading and Math Learning Resources

Kindergarten – 1st Grade

Focus: Building early literacy, phonics, and a love of books. Learning Sight words and Math vocabulary.

• Starfall – Fun phonics games and simple reading activities.
• Literacy Cloud – Fun and easy books/videos to read & watch.
• PBS Kids Reading Games – Early literacy games with favorite PBS characters.
• K-1 Dolch Sight Words – Learn and practice sight words.
• K-1 Math Vocabulary – Learn and practice math vocabulary words.

Tip: Read with your child every day. Take turns reading pages and discuss what’s happening in the pictures.

2nd – 3rd Grade

Focus: Expanding comprehension and fluency. Learning Sight words and Math vocabulary.

• Storyline Online – Watch actors read children’s books aloud.
• Literacy Cloud – Fun and easy books/videos to read & watch.
• 2-3 Dolch Sight Words – Learn and practice sight words.
• 2-3 Math Vocabulary – Learn and practice math vocabulary words.

Tip: Ask your child to retell stories in their own words. Discuss lessons and character choices.

4th – 5th Grade

Focus: Strengthening critical thinking and text analysis. Learning Sight words and Math vocabulary.

• Literacy Cloud – Fun and easy books/videos to read & watch.
• Scholastic Learn at Home – Reading and writing projects organized by grade.
• 4-5 Dolch Sight Words – Learn and practice sight words.
• 4-5 Math Vocabulary – Learn and practice math vocabulary words.

Tip: Have your child summarize one article or story each week and share it aloud.

Reading Tips for Parents

• Read daily for at least 10–20 minutes.
• Let your child choose some of the books to build motivation.
• Ask open-ended questions (“What might happen next?” “How did this story make you feel?”).
• Celebrate progress — small steps count!
• Model reading — show them that you read for enjoyment, too.
